Creativity… Chewing away at my Complex Cranium

It is 4am… Yep, unlike normal humans, I am still awake… Got a lil lost online & here I am still! Found this awesome Blog… Which then led me on some interesting online journeys!

Recently, a friend showed me a Free Postcard ( http://www.avantcard.com.au/index.php )she had picked up. It had the coolest drawing on it (see below), so I copied down the Website of the artist.

I finally got a chance to look at the site I had copied down & found her Blog … Oh Gosh… http://scarlettcat.blogspot.com/

I love some of her work. Actually, I don’t think there is any of her pieces that I don’t like! I need to buy some! 🙂

It led me on a discovery of a heap of really cool websites… Why does there have to be so many interesting sites? Plus… so many cool things I want to now buy!

I have recently been having creative pangs… It is about 15 years since I have done any Artwork… I can’t believe it is that long. I really want to get back into it & I have some ideas of stuff that I want to create. But, the real artistic spark isn’t burning strongly enough to get started yet. I guess I also have fear that my work isn’t good enough. Fear is an evil thing… It stops me from doing so much!

My Personality is like a Cocktail!

I am one of those people who thinks 24/7… I would love to learn to switch off. I also do a vast amount of self reflection. I think I know myself a lot deeper than most people know themselves. From a young age, I have always been a person who is far too self critical, and as a result, I can be my own worst enemy!

One of the things I prefer about Americans to Australians, is the way as children & teenagers, they in general, don’t give a hoot what anyone else thinks of them. Having experienced attending High School in the U.S.A. for a period of time, I saw this with my own eyes. Self-Confidence & believing in yourself is very strongly nurtured there. I think my School years would have been a great deal better, if I had spent them all living there. I would have been able to be my real self! I don’t recommend growing up in the rural area where I grew up, to anyone. A beautiful area visually, but sadly, an area where there are too many big fish in a little pond! People who think they are something, but are actually nothing, & can’t handle living outside of the pond! Unless you are related to half the district (no, thanks!), or get yourself in their narrow minded webs, you are considered a nothing! pfttt.

We all arrive & leave the world in the same sort of way, so what makes anyone think they are superior to anyone else? Seriously, it’s a pathetic world we live in, & I strongly admire people who don’t ever care at all what anyone else thinks of them.

——

My Personality is like a Cocktail!

I am a Complex & Unique Person…

Some of the Ingredients [Characteristics] that make ME:

Addictive, Affectionate, Anxious, Bossy, Creative, Emotional, Empathetic, Flirtatious, TOO Generous, Honest, Impatient, Inquisitive, Intelligent, Intuitive, Moody, Obsessive, Open-Minded, Perceptive, Perfectionist, Procrastinator, Self-Aware, Self-Indulgent, Self-Reliant, Sensitive, Sensual, Sentimental, Sociable, Spontaneous, Stubborn, TOO Trusting *grrr*, Young at Heart.

*No one in this world is a perfect person. We all have positive & negative character traits.

Famous People & their Online Presence

I just read about Stephanie Rice (Australian Swimmer) & her Facebook Profile drama on the Herald-Sun Website.

(If you Google ‘Stephanie Rice’ – I’m sure you will find many articles online about this).

For god sake, don’t the media have any respect at all? Actually, I already know they don’t, but I like to give them the benefit of the doubt sometimes. To go in & take personal pictures off Stephanie’s Facebook Profile, & then flash them on news sites for all to see & make a big deal about it, is ridiculous, to say the least. Don’t they have anything better to report about?

Give Stephanie a break – isn’t she allowed to have a normal life outside of Swimming? Obviously not. If you look at the average person her age on Facebook, you will see similar photos or some that are worse. Does the average person get their photos in the media & criticised? NO! Unless of course, a person gets their name somehow in the media for something else & then Journalists hunt them down on Social Networking Sites. Journalists then have a field day, making these individuals profiles known to the general public & making mountains out of mole hills over the profile content, or even blaming MySpace & Facebook for issues.

(Don’t even start me on the way Facebook & MySpace are constantly portrayed in the Media as evil, or the cause of Teenage Problems).

I am on heaps of Social Networking Sites – god forbid I ever make the Media for some reason – they will have a field day finding me! Even though my profiles are public, I never include any info or photos that I would not want seen by the world. So, journalists wouldn’t find anything too dramatic to make a big deal out of, but, I guarantee they would still make something out of my profiles!

Seriously, just leave the Australian Swimmers, like Stephanie, alone – they have every right to be on Facebook. I would just suggest that, all the swimmers put their profiles on private – so only their Facebook friends can view their photos, but not to make their profiles invisible, so that their old friends can still find them & contact them.

I would also suggest doing that, to anyone who is in the spotlight for Sport, TV or whatever, as the Media have a habit of making a big deal out of them even being on Facebook or MySpace. These people are still humans, despite being well known, and they have every right to be registered on those sites.

Honestly, there are more important issues in this world to worry about & report on, rather than focusing on what a well known individual does in their private life. If a well known person chooses to tell or show the world online, what they are doing in their personal life, so be it. All it shows is, they are just like the rest of us – human!

We somehow expect a well known individual to live in a box, & live some sort of artificial life all the time. No one in this world is perfect, so why do we expect that famous people are? We don’t need to persecute them for having a life outside of what they are known for. Why make a big deal out of it, just for them doing the things everyone else does? Unless they are doing something illegal or criminal, what is the issue?

I admit that I like to read Gossip about Famous People, and I doubt there is anyone in this world who doesn’t actually read it. (I do not buy those trashy publications that are purely made up of gossip though!) But, at the end of the day, what good does that gossip I read, do for me? Half of what we read is not even true or has been misconstrued! I know that many Famous People have chosen to be in the spotlight or have been born into it, so they have to expect that their lives are continually scrutinised by the world. It is just part of what happens when you become well known, but do the media need to go to the extent that they do? Is it really necessary for us to know everything about these lives?

I am just glad that I am an average human – I wouldn’t want to be in the spotlight, when it also means that nothing you ever do or say is sacred…

Rambling Rosa is a close friend of mine…

She has many thoughts & opinions about life, health, social concerns & our planet. As a result, Rambling Rosa Blog has been created.

It gives me hope, knowing that I am not the only person in this world who actually cares about the Greater World & the social, health & environmental issues! Sometimes I feel as if those of us who do care are a small minority… I get so frustrated seeing & living in a world with so many ignorant humans!

Thanks Rambling Rosa, for such a meaningful friendship.

Please stop by her blog & leave her some comments.

My Idea of a Greek God = Ang Christou

During my life, I have been a Fan of many Singers, Bands, TV, Movie & Sports Stars, but one will always stand out.

Mr. Ang Christou – Former Carlton Footballer.

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php?page=Ang%20Christou

In my Late Teenage Years, when he was playing AFL Football, I was smitten by his looks, personality & football ability. I idolised him & thought he was downright awesome.
But what Ang went through with his Back Injury in 1997-98, was what cemented nothing but total respect for him. He then became, the person I thought about when life dealt me personal setbacks. Ang had battled hell & come through in the end, so I knew it was possible to also hang in there.

I used to write to Ang randomly & to this day I still have his letters & photos. It meant a great deal that he would make the effort to personally write back.

Ang will always remain an inspiration to me.

To read about his current life – see the link below.

He currently co-owns the Souvlaki Hut restaurant in Lower Templestowe, with former team-mate Anthony Koutoufides.

Being Twenty-Something. They call it the “Quarter-life Crisis.”

This is an email I got many years ago. I have been there & lived the 20s, but I still see many of these aspects in life as a Thirty-Something. The Journey of life is one emotional trip…

Being Twenty-Something. They call it the “Quarter-life Crisis.”

It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realising that there are many things about yourself that you didn’t know and may not like.

You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now.

You start realising that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close to aren’t exactly the greatest people you have ever met, and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones.

What you don’t recognise is that they are realising that too, and aren’t really cold, catty, mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you.

You look at your job…and it is not even close to what you thought you would be doing, or maybe you are looking for a job and realising that you are going to have to start at the bottom and that scares you.

Your opinions have gotten stronger.

You see what others are doing and find yourself judging more than usual because suddenly you realise that you have certain boundaries in your life and are constantly adding things to your list of what is acceptable and what isn’t.

One minute, you are insecure and then the next, secure. You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life.

You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly, change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life, but soon realise that the past is drifting further and further away, and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward.

You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you. Or you lay in bed and wonder why you can’t meet anyone decent enough that you want to get to know better. Or maybe you love someone but love someone else too and cannot figure out why you are doing this because you know that you aren’t a bad person.

One night stands and random hook ups start to look cheap. Getting wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic.

You go through the same emotions and questions over and over, and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision. You worry about loans, money, the future and making a life for yourself…..and while winning the race would be great, right now you’d just like to be a contender!

What you may not realise is that everyone reading this relates to it. We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out.

Why Birthdays make me feel anxious…

cupcakes.jpg

mmm… I love Cupcakes! The cutest things ever…

My Birthday is only a few days away… Why do the years pass by so damn fast?

Since I turned 21, it feels like my life is travelling by in a Ferrari!

Each year seems to come & go so quickly. grrr.

I remember just before I turned 30, I went through the weirdest emotions…

It was like a mid-life crisis! Even now, I don’t want to get any older & the thought scares me!

It doesn’t help me being a female, whose most desired thing is to find mr right, marry & have children!

Men don’t have to worry about reaching an age where they can’t physically produce a child!

pftt… If men were in our shoes, they may understand why females don’t have the time to be commitment phobic, like so many modern males in Australia are! grrr.

There are so many things I still want to do & experience in my life.

It frightens me that even though I am only still in my 30s, I won’t have enough time to accomplish everything.

I know… I need to relax & enjoy the present moment, but there is a particular clock ticking loudly that definitely doesn’t help the situation! grrr.

I have done my pre-birthday venting for another year… Maybe one of these years, I will get to enjoy a Birthday again…

Cupcakes anyone?
